Choosing therapy is an act of courage — and we want the practical side of it to feel as clear and straightforward as possible.
Your first session is a 50-minute in-depth conversation where Dr. Cates takes the time to fully understand your history, your experiences, and your goals. This session is the foundation of your therapeutic relationship and your personalized care plan.
Ongoing 50-minute individual therapy sessions focused on your specific goals — whether that is processing trauma, breaking trauma bonds, rebuilding identity, managing anxiety or depression, or navigating high-conflict relationships.

Do you accept insurance? We are a private pay practice and do not bill insurance companies directly. This protects your privacy and ensures your care is never limited by what an insurance provider is willing to approve.
Do you accept FSA or HSA cards?Yes. We gladly accept FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) cards as payment for sessions.
Can I still use my insurance benefits? If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. We can provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with all necessary clinical codes — that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurer ahead of time to ask about your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement rate.
How do I find out if I have out-of-network benefits?Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What is my reimbursement rate for outpatient therapy, and do I have a deductible to meet first?"
